Next month the History channel screens a 2 hour documentary Hiroshima: 75 Years Later.
This is directed by James Erskine (This Is Football, Billie) and is fast-tracked 2 days after its US premiere.
In the acclaimed filmmaking tradition of Peter Jackson’s They Shall Not Grow Old, comes a World War II documentary that reflects on the 75th anniversary of the dropping of the first atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945. Culled from hours of declassified U.S. and Japanese archival footage and audio from survivors, scientists and the military, the film recounts one of the most shocking and sobering moments in international wartime history – from the making of the bombs to the horrifying devastation that it caused.
Wednesday August 5 at 7.30pm on History.

This should be very interesting. Especially after watching the Maralinga mini series. Seeing them turning their backs when the bombs dropped as though it would make a difference. How naive they were.
