Fight for Planet A: August 25

Craig Reucassel turns his attention to Food testing if people know which foods produce the least greenhouse gases?

On the final episode of Fight for Planet A: Our Climate Challenge Craig Reucassel turns his attention to Food, with a public stunt to test if people know which foods produce the least greenhouse gases?

We all have a food footprint, but which foods create greenhouse gases and why? Craig looks at the different carbon footprints of the various foods we eat – and learns that an important factor is where our food actually comes from.

Craig creates a fun challenge to test the general public – do they know which foods produce the least greenhouse gases to the ones that produce the most?

What does the future hold for food production in Australia? Craig meets Queensland farmers at the forefront of climate change and finds how the recent drought has affected their livelihoods. While on the Sunshine Coast, he learns about a special seaweed that can reduce the amount of methane that cattle (and maybe sheep) create.

This week some of the households focus on reducing the amount of red meat in their diets while others replace meat with plant-based options or by putting kangaroo and duck on the household dinner menu. This proves challenging for some of the kids in the group!

It’s months since the little primary school committed to changing their behaviors as well as making some DIY improvements around the school. This week Craig visits again to learn how much impact these changes have made to their carbon emissions.
