More apps coming to Fetch

From next year, Fetch subscribers will gain access to a range of additional apps and OTT services.

Fetch TV subscribers are in line for more apps being offered after the platform partnered with the Metrological Lightning Framework.

The cloud-based platform allows Fetch to seamlessly integrate premium OTT services, and niche and localised apps into one single viewer experience.

From next year, Fetch subscribers will gain access to a range of additional apps and OTT services, to add to its existing offer of Free to Air, Netflix, Stan, Prime Video, 10 All Access, Hayu Optus Sports and YouTube.

It is yet to confirm what other apps such as Acorn TV, Britbox, Vimeo and Spotify, might become available as part of its aggregated model.

“The worlds of traditional broadcast TV and OTT services have collided, driven by consumers’ insatiable appetite for more and varied content. As a master aggregator, Fetch is focused on constantly expanding our content offering and on delivering a truly integrated user experience. The partnership with Metrological enhances our ability to do both and provides a clear path for servicing the long tail of great content now available,” said Scott Lorson, CEO of Fetch TV.

“Metrological has developed market leading technology and is clearly positioned as the world’s leading cloud-based TV application platform. Fetch is thrilled to join leading Tier 1 operators, like Comcast, Liberty Global, Vodafone and Turkcell, in embracing the Metrological platform.”

“Fetch shares our view that during this unprecedented time, where more content is being watched than ever, providing an integrated, single viewer experience becomes even more essential,” said Jeroen Ghijsen, CEO of Metrological. “With the Metrological Application Platform Fetch can seamlessly integrate OTT content into the main TV viewer experience and manage content in response to subscribers’ changing content needs, delivering an even more compelling content proposition and viewing experience.”

  1. Curiosity Stream would be a good one to add as well, I probably watch those Doco’s more than anything else and well mirroring from the tablet or phone sometimes has break-ups so an App would be great (along with those mentioned in the article).

  2. The only app I really want Fetch to get is Binge, but Foxtel will never let that happen. Which is a shame, definitely a lost revenue stream for Foxtel. I’m much more likely to subscribe to Binge using my existing hardware via Fetch than via other means.

    1. That would be great to have it on there but I don’t think Optus fetch is going to allow Telstra (Foxtel) Binge product on their device, but you never know, would be good to then have one recording device that does all the apps.

      1. Actually surprising that the the ACCC hasn’t had anything to say about it in the interest of the consumer, to which of course Optus Sports should also be opened up to Foxtel and they could have it alongside Netflix and such on their IQ Boxes. Though my only worry on that would be Foxtel one-day swallowing up Fetch they way it happened with Optus Cable when all that was opened up and The Fetch boxes are gone and only available on IQ or Telstra TV, with the gradual erosion of the Fetch Pay Services.
