Inspired Architecture (2020) AUS 15 mins – Episode 6 Crows Nest House – Available September 4.
The final episode of Shelter Original series Inspired Architecture is “Crows Nest House” by architect Virginia Kerridge. This house is an exercise in achieving the feeling of generosity within a house footprint that is relatively small, modest in size, but big on the way you feel when you are inside the space. It enriches the experience of the occupants by creating spaces that have a connection to the outside courtyard and garden areas.

Almost There (2014) USA 93 mins – Available from September 18.
For many, Peter Anton’s house embodies an end-of-life nightmare: the utility companies long ago shut off the heat and electricity, the floorboards are rotting, and the detritus of a chaotic life is precariously stacked to the ceiling. But for the filmmakers Dan Rybicky and Aaron Wickenden, Anton’s home is a treasure trove, a startling collection of unseen and fascinating paintings, drawings, and notebooks, not to mention Anton himself, a character worthy of his own reality TV show. Though ageing infirm, cranky, and solitary, Anton also is funny and utterly resilient. The film’s remarkable journey follows a gifted artist through startling twists and turns. By its quietly satisfying ending, Almost There has provided enough human drama for a season of soap operas, plus insights into mental illness, ageing in America, and the redemptive power of art.

Timber Kings (Season 4) – (2017) CAN 10 x 60 mins – Available in select territories from September 25.
Timber Kings follows the best log builders on the planet as they hand-craft stunning homes. Every day is a challenge for the extended family behind Pioneer Log Homes – they may be the best but things never go smoothly. In this character driven show, even the most routine task can spell instant death when you’re tossing around 4000lb logs. But being so daring is part of the romance for these passionately dedicated craftsmen who call their gruelling work a dream job.
