10 has announced new game show The Cube for 2021, to be hosted by Andy Lee.
Produced by ITV Studios Australia, the UK format sees players placed in a small, enclosed 4m x 4m x 4m Perspex cube, to take on deceivingly simple tasks.
From throwing to catching, estimating to balancing, memorising to reacting, contestants have nowhere to go and nowhere to hide once inside The Cube.
On offer is $250,000 in prize money. A casting call out has recently been underway with some speculation by readers The Cube was coming.
Andy Lee, who will also be an Executive Producer said: “Things get tense with me and my mates when we play skill games to determine who’s going to get the next round of beers at the pub, imagine doing it for a quarter of million dollars. I can’t wait!”
Head of Programming, 10 ViacomCBS, Daniel Monaghan, said: “Andy Lee is one of the most popular and talented comedians in Australia, and we are thrilled he will host this brilliant series.
“The Cube has been a huge success in the UK for years, and to bring this edge-of-your-seat game show to Australia for a local prime time version, with Andy Lee no less, is a fantastic addition to our 2021 schedule.”
CEO & Managing Director, ITV Studios Australia, David Mott, said: “We are delighted Network 10 is bringing The Cube to the Australian market. This fantastic family-entertainment game show had a stellar run on ITV UK recently, achieving over 4m viewers and dominating all demos.
“ITV Studios Australia recently partnered with format rights holders of The Cube, all3media International to bring this hit format to the Australian market. And who better to host this brand new format than Andy Lee who will bring his own unique style and tone that is perfectly suited to this format. We can’t wait to get started on the production.”
Sabrina Duguet, EVP APAC at all3media International, said “We are delighted that Network 10, a great home for TV entertainment, has commissioned The Cube. The show – originally produced by Objective Media Group for ITV has proven its credentials in finding family viewers across several years, in several countries. We are confident that the Australian version, produced by the very capable ITV Studios Australia, will engage and enthral Network 10’s audiences.”
Filming begins in January.

Looks like ridiculous crap to me I have zero interest
Does this mean Family Feud is getting the chop
It wasn’t renewed beyond its specials, which we’ve seen have not rated.
Thanks
Yes, yes, a thousand times yes! I’ve been wanting an Aussie version for years! I’m applying for sure! (Can you put a good word in for a loyal reader, David? 😉 ).
This has been low hanging fruit for ages – 9 and 7 will regret not picking this up!
Definitely keen for more ridiculous game shows instead of reality programming or scripted drama. Would love to see more shows like this on television.
This looks really good and I think Andy Lee is the perfect host for this type of show. Should do really well for 10.
sure fire hit unless its produced like Pointless.
Wait didn’t Karl Stefanovic host this for nine years ago?
No, it was the Pommie version tvtonight.com.au/2011/02/gone-the-cube.html
As long as it doesn’t turn into the 1969 Jim Henson film The Cube (or it’s predecessor the 1997 Canadian film Cube), then all will be good…then again on the other hand.
Celebrity Cube would be a really interesting watch
I love that movie! One of the few horror films I can stomach!
Sounds interesting. Surprised that Grant Denyer isn’t the host.
This looks like good fun! I think this will some good lighthearted entertainment, possibly on Sundays at 7:00? Knew I should of applied!
Applications close Sunday 6th December.
Thanks Davis, but I don’t think I’d be able to find a partner on such short notice!
This sounds awfully similar in concept to “The Box” from the TV Series Episodes LOL.
I think this will be quite good. It’s something different, we never have tried it here, and it’s not hosted by an overexposed personality or the same five people 10 love to pick
Yes! I love The Cube!
I’ll admit, being so used to Phillip Schofield in the hosting role, I was expecting someone more akin to him as presenter. That being said, Andy is a great choice and can’t wait to see what he does with the role.
Thought it’d be 10! Can’t wait to watch this, it’s nice to see Grant getting a little break although I’m hoping his Family Feud specials will improve 10’s Saturday nights.
Hoping to see Grant and Amanda on Making It though…
Not Saturday nights. 4pm Saturday, 5 December on 10.
