Bosch spin-off green-lit

Titus Welliver will get to continue his LA Police detective.

A spin-off has been greenlit from Bosch by IMDb TV.

It follows confirmation that Bosch will end with its upcoming seventh season.

The new series will follow Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver) as he embarks on the next chapter of his career and finds himself working with his one-time enemy and top-notch attorney Honey “Money” Chandler (Mimi Rogers). With a deep and complicated history between this unlikely pair, they must work together to do what they can agree on – finding justice.

“To say I am ecstatic is an understatement!” Welliver said. “To be given the opportunity to tell more Harry Bosch stories is a tremendous gift. The process of shooting season 7 with the shadow of it being our final loomed heavily so when the idea was presented to continue with the possibility of a spinoff, without hesitation I said, ‘let’s go.’

“To all of our Bosch fans, thank for your incredible support for all these years and I can promise you the ride will only get better!”

Bosch is based on the books by Michael Connelly.

  1. Harry was pretty much a PI in the series most of the time-did what he wanted, in the way he wanted for whoever he felt deserved it. A big part of the appeal of the show were the interesting supporting characters from the Chief of Police on down.

    1. Because from the sound of it he’ll be working as a private investigator, no longer in the police force. That’s not the same concept, setting, or same set of characters. Ergo: different show. I’m not sure I like it’s chances though. I can see why they’d be attracted to making Bosch a private investigator; he couldn’t have lasted much longer in the force anyway. But Mimi Rogers hasn’t exactly sizzled as Honey Chandler. That makes for two fairly repressed and uptight lead characters.

    2. From the sounds of it only Welliver, Maddison Lintz, Mimi Rogers and Overmyer want to continue. It will be a different show, on IMDb.TV not Prime, based in Chandler’s law office with Bosch working as her legal investigator. So they are going to shut down production and start a new one, which also voids distribution deals for Bosch, like SBS’s.

This is all completely different to the books. Bosch worked as a PI after he was fired in a couple of novels but didn’t do well. He tried working as a legal investigator for Haller (a character Amazon problably don’t the rights too) he couldn’t stomach working for the bad guys. They brought this up where he only worked with Chandler when it served his interests in the TV show. In the books he took a scheduled retirement plan, but ended up working cold cases. Then he worked part-time for The San Fernado City Sheriff’s dept. and ended…

      1. Netflix has just picked up the Lincoln Lawyer series after it was dropped by CBS. I was hoping Bosch would be able to appear because the Amazon series was ending, but that won’t be possible now.

Michael Connelly is still involved so I’m sure they’ll be able to pick up some of the storylines from the books. I’m just happy to see Titus continue as Bosch, and it’ll be interesting to see where they take the character.
