Big Brother villain isolated for COVID test

With a high temperature and complaints of head spins, BB's Danny is separated while awaiting a COVID test result.

Big Brother ‘villain’ Daniel Hayes was last night pulled from his housemates and isolated to await the results of a COVID test.

Danny, who has been aggressively leading one of two alliances in the house, was called into the Diary Room after feeling ill to be tested by a medic.

“I’m spinning and I can’t walk straight,” he said. “I need more electrolytes or I need something, please.

“I’ve never had this before. Ever.”

With a temperature of 38.5 he was isolated into the house ‘attic’ which had been home to housemates SJ and Mary while he awaited the results of a COVID test.

It’s the first time COVID has impacted on the series, filmed late last year, on screen.

Last season Big Brother Australia made headlines when producers broke with tradition to explain to locked-up housemates that a pandemic had gripped the world and led to a national lockdown. Cameras also stopped being operated manually for a short period.

With Danny temporarily pulled from the game last night he avoided both the nightly challenge and elimination, but is unaware his ally Nick was sent packing by third alliance pal, Melissa.

That may send his temperature even higher…

Update: Daniel was given the all clear and returned to the game.

  1. Hey David do you know what is going on, Big Brother is not airing on Sunday they are playing the Craig Story and Monday at 7.30 to be advised, is 7 going to pause BB for a week?

  2. I love the endless mantra ‘Who Wins, You Decide’ – when 20 housemates are whittled down to 3 – not by ‘Us’ but by the housemates; and more or less by the way the Producers engineer tasks and evictions and via special saves of select people. ‘We’ get to vote just on the final 3.

  3. I don’t think Daniel is a villain at all, he’s just self-confident and refuses to follow katies orders. The big villain is Jess, she is the main liar and promise breaker, even tried to use her nans death to her advantage, then seems to pull off an innocent image. At least Katie and Daniel own up to who they are.

  4. Ummm…I don’t watch the show. But, why would you need a COVID test when you’re sequestered in a house as part of a group of people who were presumably tested before production commenced?

    1. They are in contact with real people during production, seeing as it’s all prerecorded and there are no live streams to betray them. Also, remember the ninjas from the 10 days? Think of that minus the black costumes. They were driven in a van to and from the “basement” in last year’s show, and were still using that venue this season.

  5. “It’s the first time COVID has impacted on the series, filmed late last year, on screen.”

If he tested negative it still won’t have.

  6. I have felt really conflicted watching him in the house. It is clear he has many wounds and demons, and his emotion around his children and his sense of worth is palpable, but his behaviour is narcissistic and unedifying at best, and bullying at worst; especially to the female housemates he interacts with. Obviously this sort of character is ‘gold’ for Producers and they have milked it since the first few minutes of the series. But unlike last year’s Angela, who was funny and endearing, even with her antics, Danny is really hard to like; even with his genuine emotion. So I am conflicted.

  7. David, I know you have assured us this series gets better, but BB lost me Sunday night with one of the lamest episodes ever. In 2021 (and on a Sunday night), productions can’t afford to be sun-standard. I hit the big red button on Sunday night – the off button!!
