Nine News appoints Brett McLeod as Europe Correspondent

Brett McLeod to replace Ben Avery at London-based bureau for Nine News.

Nine News has appointed Brett McLeod as as Europe Correspondent, replacing Ben Avery in coming months, who will be returning to Adelaide after two years in the role.

Hugh Nailon, Director of News Melbourne said, “Brett is a senior network reporter, who will bring experience and gravitas to the role at a time when Covid is still dominating, Boris is in charge and the next chapter of the Monarchy will be compelling.

“Over the last two decades, Brett’s developed into an outstanding broadcaster of breaking news, as we saw recently with the George Pell Verdict, and when he expertly helmed the Network coverage of Prince Phillip’s death.

“This will be a return to familiar territory for Brett, after his first posting to the bureau in the early 2000s.”

McLeod will take up his role from September 1st.

  1. Sincere congrats to you Brett a true journey man as we used to call it, from his days doing his Media degree at RMIT and being a part of Danger: Low Brow as Brett Duck stating on Triple R and for a bit on Fox FM and Triple M (still have my Triple M Rocks Your Clacker bumper sticker DLB gave out). Through to 3AW and the many many fill-in roles you’ve done on both TV and Radio this is well deserved and again great to see someone like you have this happen to, another great Community Radio graduate.
