“A big welcome to our WIN viewers”

At midnight a new chapter began for WIN and Southern Cross viewers in regional Australia.

Regional Australia underwent a major affiliate change last night as Nine began a 7 year partnership with WIN TV across Southern NSW & ACT, Griffith, Regional Queensland, WA & Victoria, Mildura, Mt Gambier & Riverland and Tasmania.

10 has partnered with Southern Cross for 2 years in regional Queensland, Southern New South Wales and Victoria and WIN in Northern NSW for 5 years.

At midnight last night the switch was underway, including WIN viewers getting Live Wimbledon.

“A big welcome to our WIN viewers that are joining us from … southern NSW, Victoria & Tasmania. Welcome to Wide World of Sports.

Things ran less smoothly for Southern Cross in some markets, juggling Home Shopping, CBS This Morning, ads and Everyday Gourmet.

Full details on the changes can be found here.

  1. Well, Mildura is all over the place. Ch 5 and Ch 50 are both 10HD at 1081.
    51 is 10 Bold SD
    52 is 10 Peach SD.

    8 is WIN Mildura
    80 is WIN HD Mildura
    81 says BOLD?
    82 says Peach?
83 is Sky News on WIN.
9 Gem doesn’t show up in the Guide but is SD
9 Go doesn’t show up in the Guide but is SD, somewhere we have lost another HD channel for WIN.
9Life is not there and hasn’t ever been there.
10 Shake is nowhere to be seen.
So we have 2 HD channels showing the same 10 Programs and no Shake to add to the mix. Have lost one HD channel from WIN and no Life. Surely something will happen to rectify this…………….I’m not holding my breath though.

    1. It is a debacle, that’s for sure several friends of mine watched the first statewide WIN News bulletin & all their stories were from Central Victoria, so we are not happy, Does WIN really think that we are going to watch news which is irrelevant to our region?, Personally I stopped watching WIN News when they decided to pre-record the news from Ballarat instead of presenting It from the Mildura studios.

    2. The WIN promos are also still being showed on 10, as well as 9? I’m pretty sure that 10 isn’t partnering with WIN in Mildura, so how can this be the case?

      1. Not sure if this answers your question but the company that provides 10 in Mildura is a joint venture between Prime Media Group and WIN Corporation.

I have seen a couple of ads on 10 in the last couple of days that had a WIN logo on it….was it a Crawfords DVD ad? I can’t remember.

I am interested in whether Mildura will get 9Life on 1-Aug……….Not holding my breath though.

        1. Mildura has always been short-changed when It comes to channels no 9Life, 9Rush or 10Shake, On my TV when I looked at the list It actually says 9 & not WIN & when I flicked over to 9 news last night they had a 9 watermark & not WIN thought this was very strange.

  2. In the Griffith MIA (WIN monopoly) we have received a gift with this affiliation change – we now have all three network’s primary channels in HD for the first time. In doing so they have removed the SD versions of the secondary affiliate channels (7 SD and 10 SD), and they are all broadcast in MPEG2 all but confirming my hunch that in 2016 when they upgraded the primary affiliate transmitter to MPEG4 they didn’t do the other two, but it’s still a win in my books 😀 ! Now just waiting for Racing.com, 7flix, 10shake and 9rush

  3. I had a look on the WIN TV Website (WA Section) and noticed that 10HD is on Ch5, with Bold on 50 and Peach on 55. I was wondering if 10HD in produced in Native HD or 576i?

  4. So why is 9Life the unnecessary casualty in this regional TV war?? Sure we picked up 10 Shake, but that’s just another kids station until 6pm, with stimulating programming if you are over primary school age – Not! How can the bush get 9Life back???

  5. As an employee of the company, this really frustrates me. It’s not isolate at, or a dig at, you David… most media get it wrong.

The company is SCA…. not Southern Cross.

    1. Really? Yet the Annual Report circulated to shareholders states “Directors’ Report The Directors of Southern Cross Media Group Limited (‘the Company’) submit the following report for Southern Cross Austereo, being Southern Cross Media Group Limited”

  6. Did anyone manage to record the farewell for the 9 local news Gippsland at the end of the bulletin? Hopefully they had some sort of on air fair well.
