US greenlights History of the World Pt II.

Mel Brooks classic 1981 film gets a TV variety spin-off.

It’s good to be the King….

Hulu has ordered a variety series sequel to the classic Mel Brooks film, History of the World, Part I.

1981’s History of the World, Part II was made up of segments set during different periods of world history: the Stone Age, Ancient Rome, and the French Revolution. Like most of Brooks’ work, it also featured musical numbers, including one about the Spanish Inquisition and even “Jews in Space.”

“I can’t wait to once more tell the real truth about all the phoney baloney stories the world has been conned into believing are History!” Brooks said.

Brooks is a writer and executive producer on the series along with Nick Kroll, Wanda Sykes, Ike Barinholtz, David Stassen and Kevin Salter.

Hulu has ordered eight episodes with production slated to begin in 2022. No word on who will pick up Australian rights as yet.

Humour may offend… oi vey!
