Paramount+ was forced to apologise to A-League fans after technical problems with its broadcast of a Western United v Melbourne Victory game in Geelong.
It wasn’t an ideal start to the season, which began on Friday.
We sincerely apologise for the technical error experienced at the start of the Geelong match, and we are working hard to make sure it does not happen again.

On social media viewers were critical about the quality of the broadcast and one camera coverage.
Is standard definition all we're going to get all season? Seriously, it's 2021 🙄

What issues? Can you please tell us? So we know we are on the same page as you lot?
•Frames per second is way off.
•Refresh rate is awful.
•Commentary is not synced with the action.
•When play speeds up the stream goes blurry and hurts our eyes.
•only 1 camera all game.— 🇦🇺⚽️Sam⚽️🇦🇺 (@MelbourneBlokee) November 20, 2021
Games nearly over lads. This is so unprofessional and extremely frustrating. I’m at the game, but know at least 3 friends who have turned off because these errors.

You’re Having a mare here @ParamountPlusAU
Score has reverted back to 0-0, the adelaide United scoreboard colours are also wrong! This is basic stuff!

Aside from the obvious tech hiccups, like sound sync, blurry edges, and stuck video, the biggest problem is the LOW BITRATE, which is not actually a tech issue at all, it’s a cost saver. Near unwatchable refresh rate when in motion. Spend a bit more on your bandwidth, it’s 2021.

Poor coverage tonight of the game.. here’s to hoping you will sort out all the coverage issues before round 2 as detailed by many already.. not a great start ..

It's completely unwatchable. You force us to subscribe to watch this and then serve up this quality. Disgraceful.

Unforeseen? It was rubbish last night too.

They have had months to test out their systems and get everything right. Really is no excuse. Perhaps 10 should show all games live on FTA until the P+ streaming issues are sorted, like SBS did back in 2018 for the World Cup when Optus Sport also had issues.
I’m sure A-League will be wise to review this 2021-22 game coverage and the viewing numbers when the season is over. Certainly having one camera to cover a professional football game is taking economy a bit too far, even subscriber paid school sports streaming services do better coverage than that.
I’m not sure what Paramount+ is doing as I’m not a subscriber but 4K Standard Dynamic Range should be the minimum standard for any paid subscriber SVOD app. I would think the type of technical equipment available on location may have more to do with the poor live coverage. Channel 10 have no excuses.
One camera is what clubs use to produce video so they can review the game and it’s often used for a cheap highlights package e.g. club rugby. Given that one of the things that drove the APL to sign with Paramount was criticism of Foxtel’s coverage with only 5 cameras (they wanted 10), something has gone terribly wrong.
Love the ‘Yellow Card’ graphic in the pic. above. So apt. How did they cover the game? Send someone out with an iPhone?
Did they really just send a single camera to cover the match? They used more cameras filming the promo.
Nah there were multiple cameras there, but we only ever got vision from the wife shot hard camera. Didn’t get a single replay until the 70th minute, but by then most had given up due to the horrible quality of the Western United v Melb Victory game
Honestly not the first issue i’ve had with the app either. Even just streaming programs i’ve had glitches. After this though, i cancelled my subscription. It’s probably the worst one out there right now.
