Renewed: Chucky

Small screen adaptation of Child's Play will be back for more scary adventures.

Small screen adaptation Chucky has been renewed for a second season.

The series, based on the Child’s Play horror film franchise, is written and executive produced by creator Don Mancini.

“We’re thrilled to start pulling the strings on a second season of puppet mayhem with Chucky,” said Don Mancini. “Many thanks to our partners at USA, SYFY and UCP for their incredible support and guidance bringing Chucky to the small screen, bigger than ever.

“And to the fans, Chucky sends his still-undying thanks, and a message: ‘This isn’t over, not by a long shot. You better watch your backs in 2022!’”

It is currently screening in Australia through 9Now.

  1. So glad to hear this. Once you get past the first episode, the dark humour and intrigue continually turns it up a notch with each passing episode. The way it flashes back to the past throughout to provide more of a back story to Chucky is brilliantly done too. It goes to show how well executed something can be when the original creator / writer has complete control over the story / characters, and is able to continue the story on through multiple movies and now TV episodes.

  2. Thrilled by this news. People might be quick to write off a show about a killer doll, but in a day and age where TV and movies simply reboot a property, or ignore various previous iterations of it, here we have a TV show that is cleverly incorporating characters and plots from 7 previous movies from the past 30 years, while still keeping it coherent for fresh eyes. My favourite show so far this year.

    1. I agree with you. It’s everything I wanted it to be. Whilst not my favourite show of the year, it may very well feature in my Top 10. Everyone involved with the production just gets it.

      1. … and I love the fact that Chucky continues to be an actual animatronic puppet… not CGI rubbish. Adds significantly to the humour and “realism” of a doll that goes around killing people.
