Report: New studio project proposal

Former Nine boss and former Endemol Shine Australia CEO Carl Fennessy reportedly seeking a third partner in new venture.

Former Nine CEO Hugh Marks and former Endemol Shine Australia CEO Carl Fennessy are plotting a new film and television studio.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports while a non-compete agreement prevents Marks from running a television company and online classifieds businesses he is not prevented from running a film and television studio.

Both are said to be seeking a third local or international partner in the project with a view to launching in 2022.

In what appears to be a mixed-model concept the project would provide the infrastructure for production partners as well as produce local content.

Multiple industry sources said they have tried to hire Tara McWilliams, who currently works for ESA and has executive produced Married at First Sight and The Voice.

Former 10 boss Paul Anderson recently announced he had joined Northern Rivers-based production house Byron Studios as its CEO.
