Airdate: 2021 Women’s FA Cup Final

Aussies will play for Arsenal WFC v Chelsea FCW in Live match on Optus Sport.

Optus Sport has secured rights to the 2021 Women’s FA Cup Final.

It will screen a match between Arsenal WFC and Chelsea FCW Live on Monday morning -which includes Aussies in the game.

“We’re thrilled to be able to showcase the talent of some of Australia’s best football players as they battle it out on the world stage this weekend at Wembley,” said Corin Dimopoulos, Head of TV & Content at Optus.

“As the home of the world’s best football, we can’t wait to celebrate home grown talent and bring this historic match to our customers on Optus Sport.”

The announcement is a win for Aussie football fans who, regardless of the full-time score, will see an Australian Matildas player raise the winner’s trophy with four of the country’s best footballers lining up for the weekend’s clash.

With Caitlin Foord, Steph Catley and Lydia Williams wearing the Arsenal jersey and powerhouse Sam Kerr for Chelsea, this is the first time Australian players have opposed each other in the final and only the third time an Aussie has played in the Women’s FA Cup final. Previously, only Taryn Rockall (Arsenal in 1999) and Hayley Raso (Everton, 2020) reached this stage.

Only a select group of Australians, men or women, have ever played in an FA Cup final, namely Joe Marston, Craig Johnston, Harry Kewell, Tim Cahill, Mile Jedinak, Rockall and Raso.

The FA Cup Final announcement follows recent news Optus Sport has renewed its broadcasting rights for the Premier League through to 2028 and the Barclays FA Women’s Super League through to 2024.

1am AEDT Monday on Optus Sport.
