Airdate: AFC Asian Qualifiers: Socceroos v Japan

Socceroos clash with Japan at Stadium Australia this Thursday on their Road to Qatar.

On Thursday 10 screens AFC Asian Qualifiers: Socceroos v Japan Live this Thursday night.

It’s a must-win for the mighty Socceroos this Thursday night, as they face their greatest football rivals, Japan, in their final AFC Asian Qualifiers home clash at Stadium Australia on their Road to Qatar. And while the Socceroos went down by one goal in their away game against the Samurai Blue in Japan last October, this time the match is on Australian soil and the Socceroos want payback!

Stadium Australia is the place where dreams come true for Australia, with the Socceroos having qualified for three previous FIFA World Cups at the Sydney venue. Graham Arnold’s side needs history and a home crowd on their side, for the most important match in the campaign so far.

But before it all gets underway, keep up with the latest news and an in-depth match preview by former Socceroos Mark Milligan and Luke Wilkshire, in the Socceroos: Road to Qatar magazine show on Wednesday evening from 10.30pm on 10 Bold and on 10 Play on demand.

Then it’s all or nothing for this must win grudge match as the third-placed green and gold side fight for a chance to represent Australia at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

  1. I just don’t know why it’s not called ANZ Stadium anymore? Stadium Australia sponsored Telstra Stadium in 2002 through to end of 2007 and ANZ Stadium in 2008 through to late 2020. I think it might be got to do with contract deal ended with ANZ banking.

    1. In 2020 and 2021, there was no sponsor for the stadium. This year, its called Accor Stadium and will be called that for a few years.

But when international soccer is played at sponsored stadiums, they cant use the sponsored name, hence why “Stadium Australia” is used.

Glad that the game will be on Ten (and 10Bold in Perth) and live.
