$22.3m record amount at Good Friday Appeal

Donations sail past previous record in annual Victorian fundraiser on Seven.

After a difficult 12 months, Victorians have dug deep for the Good Friday Appeal, raising a record amount for the Royal Children’s Hospital.

The final figure at 11:30pm last night was $22,328,154 -far eclipsing the previous record of $18.2m in 2020.

Seven broadcast its annual appeal from midday (including AFL match and Seven News), with talent from Home & Away, Better Homes & Gardens, Seven Sport, The Chase, Sunrise, The Morning Show, Seven News, Dancing with the Stars: All Stars and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Produced annually by activeTV, performers included Guy Sebastian, Human Nature, Bella Taylor Smith.

Managing Director Seven Melbourne and Head of Network Sport, Lewis Martin said: “It was an honour and a privilege to bring the sheer joy and heart-warming stories of the Good Friday Appeal to Australians, on a truly special day on the Victorian calendar.

“To see Victorians rally together and dig deep to support the Good Friday Appeal, after an incredibly difficult two years during the pandemic, proves how special The Royal Children’s Hospital is to all of us.

“The Appeal is a great partnership between The Royal Children’s Hospital, Channel 7 and the Herald Sun, and we’re rapt by how Victorians responded this year,” he said.
