Airdate: The Staircase

Colin Firth and Toni Collette star in a true crime drama which has previously been the subject of a profile documentary.

A trailer has been released for upcoming true crime drama, The Staircase, coming to Binge in May.

The 8 part series -which has previously been the subject of a profile documentary- starring Colin Firth and Toni Collette, will launch with triple episode.

Based on a true story, The Staircase explores the life of Michael Peterson, his sprawling North Carolina family, and the suspicious death of his wife, Kathleen Peterso

In addition to Firth and Collette, the ensemble cast stars Michael Stuhlbarg, Dane Dehaan, Olivia DeJonge, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sophie Turner, Odessa Young, with Juliette Binoche, and Parker Posey.

Created by Antonio Campos, The Staircase is co-produced by Annapurna Television. Written and executive produced by Antonio Campos and Maggie Cohn, who also serve as showrunners. Campos directed six episodes and Leigh Janiak directed two episodes.

3 episode premiere Thursday May 5 on Binge / first two weeks with double eps 8:30pm FOX Showcase.

  1. Hmmm two Hollywood A-Listers in a limited-run series? Hopefully it’s not another “The Undoing”. A classic space filler where watching the first and last episode was all you needed to understand what was going on.

  2. The Staircase is three documentaries by Jean-Xavier de Lestrade, the first of which won an IDA and a Peabody. They are available as a 13 episode series on Netflix and are one of the few actual pieces of “must see TV”. The first season of Trial and Error is a spoof of it. Yet under guild rules, Campos gets a “created by” credit for the miniseries.
