Gallery: RocKwiz at Good Friday & Bluesfest

Much loved music show had a really, really busy Easter with gigs in both Melbourne and Byron, and more on the way.

Former SBS hit RocKwiz presented their sixth Really Really Good Friday show to a capacity crowd at Hamer Hall on Good Friday, adding visiting comedians David O’Doherty and Flo and Joan to the traditional Easter music and quiz event.

Brian Cadd, Grace Cummings, Bob Evans, Mia Dyson and Kutcha Edwards sang a mix of original songs and carefully selected cover versions.

Brian Cadd was joined by rising star Grace Cummings on his classic hit ‘Let Go’, Mia Dyson and RocKwiz Orkestra member Clio Renner opened the second act with a timely song of resistance and faith, ‘Don’t Give Up’ and proud Mutti Mutti man Kutcha Edwards performed a stunning version of Sam Cooke’s civil rights anthem, ‘A Change Is Gonna Come’.

Brian Nankervis tells TV Tonight, “Four audience members were selected to be part of the show after an extremely competitive round of quizzing at the beginning of the show, answering music questions with a few Easter themed curly ones thrown in for good measure (true or false*: There was a fromagerie in the Pennsylvanian city of Nazareth called ‘Cheeses Of Nazareth’?) There was a mariachi band roaming through the audience performing ‘Friday On My Mind’, Julia Zemiro, wearing a moon boot to protect her fractured her ankle, entered the stage on a knee scooter to the sounds of ‘Born To Be Wild’ and when Bob Evans sang ‘Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again?’, you can imagine how the audience responded!”

The next day, the RocKwiz team headed north to Byron Bay to perform two shows at Bluesfest (no booing!) and later this week they are performing a series of regional Victorian dates.
