NITV Head of Commissioning and Programming to take up new role at Screen NSW.

NITV Head of Commissioning and Programming Kyas Hepworth has been appointed Head of Screen NSW, succeeding Grainne Brunsdon who departed in March.

Ms Hepworth, a Bundjalung woman from Tweed Heads, joined NITV as Senior Commissioning Editor in 2019 before being promoted a year later across factual, scripted and children’s programming.

“I am incredibly excited to start my new role with Screen NSW to continue the incredible work of the many who have come before me cementing NSW as a global leader for screen creatives and production” she said.

NSW Minister for the Arts Ben Franklin said, “The NSW screen industry clearly leads the nation with over 1,500 screen production businesses employing 9,600 people and generating an annual income of more than $1.6 billion. Ms Hepworth’s appointment will see us further cement this position while attracting new local and international blockbusters.”

An SBS spokesperson said, “Kyas has made such an important and lasting contribution to NITV as the Head of Commissioning and Programming, including being a driving force behind ground breaking and beautiful First Nations storytelling that sets the channel apart. Her passion, insights and leadership will be missed here at SBS, and we wish her all the best with this exciting new opportunity and all that is ahead.”

Kyas Hepworth will commence her new role in July.
