Sheldon Riley’s first rehearsal at Eurovision

Sheldon Riley took to the stage in Turin around midnight (AEST) last night for his first Eurovision rehearsal.

According to the official Eurovision blog, “Sheldon’s at the bottom of two flights of giant steps, and his outfit is the opposite of (San Marino’s) Achille Lauro’s – there’s ACRES of it, with a huge fur-trimmed white wedding train that drapes to the floor. He’s also wearing his silver sparkly face and hand jewellery, keeping up the 2022 Eurovision standard for incredible outfits.

“This is a powerful vocal performance from Sheldon – those big notes are blowing the roof off the Pala Alpitour right now.”

And according to Wiwibloggs, “He brought the eleganza with a dramatic all-white outfit with silver embellishments. A long, furry train adds visual intrigue and a royal feeling fit for a king (or queen). His bejewelled mask looks stunning as stunning as it did in Australia. Changing his outfit from the black of the national selection to the white one on show here was a good idea. It adds some much-needed colour to the stage show.

“At times we see a rugged landscape behind him along with a cloudy, mystical sky. He climbs a set of large white stairs and the lights go all white and purple and then white and blue. Plenty of smoke fills the stage and ads mystery when beams of light cut across it. The dead kinetic sun remains in place — at times it has white arches of light, creating a monochrome rainbow.”

Australia performs in Semi Final Two which will be seen Live on SBS 5am AEST Friday May 13.
