Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle, play fictionalised depictions of their younger selves as awkward 7th grade outcasts, now on Free to Air.

US high school comedy, the cheekily-titled PEN15 from comedy trio The Lonely Island aka Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, Jorma Taccone, gets a Free to Air debut on SBS VICELAND next week.

The 10 part series, which has previously screened on Stan, kicks off with a double episode.

Comics Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle, who are full-on adults, play fictionalised depictions of their younger selves as awkward 7th grade outcasts, surrounded by actual 13-year-olds. Taking a nostalgic trip back to the year 2000, these two best friends face the trials and tribulations of middle school – from boys to school dances to overbearing parents – where the best day of your life can turn into the worst with the stroke of a pen.

Series One, Episode One:
First Day Seventh grade seems to be off to a great start for Anna and Maya when posters saying that all of the cutest boys in school love Maya, only to discover that it’s because Maya has been declared ‘UGIS’ – the “ugliest girl in school”.

Episode Two:
Miranda A chance encounter in the girl’s restroom leave Anna and Maya fascinated by their bad-girl classmate Miranda, but they quickly get in over their head when they get invited to hang out with Miranda’s crew and Maya huffs computer cleaner.
