Veteran performer John Wood has reunited with former Blue Heelers star Lisa McCune for a new comedy-drama he has written, Home to Roost.
“It’s a bit fantastical and spiritual,” he told New Idea. “It’s set in a retirement village originally set up by a comedian for ageing actors. We did a reading of it two weeks ago, and it was great. Everybody loved it.”
Other names involved in the project include veterans Shane Porteous, Lex Marinos, Max Gillies.
“The good thing about ageing is I have all these people who have been friends for the past 50 years working in the industry.”
It’s not clear if a production company or network has picked up the project as yet.

I would love it even more if Martin Sacks was involved. (yes I was into Blue Heelers’ PJ and Maggie).
I definately hope that it is picked up by whoever..
Sorry my first thought was the retirement village had a lockdown, staff didn’t show up for work, the residents got covid the majority of residents died. no PPE no food no medical help and the remaining residents are left to fend for themselves.. Oh wait…
A type of show the ABC would pick up, skewing to older audiences, maybe Channel 7 out of the commercial networks.
Sounds great! Lots of talent (young and old) around! I really hope someone picks it up!
