New project reunites John Wood, Lisa McCune.

Former Blue Heelers stars quietly working away on a comedy set in a retirement home.

Veteran performer John Wood has reunited with former Blue Heelers star Lisa McCune for a new comedy-drama he has written, Home to Roost.

“It’s a bit fantastical and spiritual,” he told New Idea. “It’s set in a retirement village originally set up by a comedian for ageing actors. We did a reading of it two weeks ago, and it was great. Everybody loved it.”

Other names involved in the project include veterans Shane Porteous, Lex Marinos, Max Gillies.

“The good thing about ageing is I have all these people who have been friends for the past 50 years working in the industry.”

It’s not clear if a production company or network has picked up the project as yet.

  1. Sorry my first thought was the retirement village had a lockdown, staff didn’t show up for work, the residents got covid the majority of residents died. no PPE no food no medical help and the remaining residents are left to fend for themselves.. Oh wait…
