Returning: Spicks & Specks

Adam, Myf & Alan are back on ABC Sundays in early August.

Spicks and Specks returns to ABC Sunday nights in early August.

This season features ten mystery songs, one-hundred clues, two team captains and forty guests trying to figure it all out.

Joining Adam Hills, Myf Warhurst, Alan Brough are Hamish Blake, Denise Scott, Dave O’Neil, Luke McGregor, Rhys Nicholson, Nath Valvo and Zoe Coombs Marr and in their debut, Casey Donovan, Montaigne, Emma Watkins, Dylan Alcott and Mama Alto.

Adam Hills said “As the Australian live music scene slowly gets back on its feet, we wanna give it a leg up by showcasing some of the best new musicians Australia has to offer (as well as a couple of legends thrown in for good measure). Of course, we’ll do it all with some of the best comedians in the country. Spicks and Specks is a joy to make, and this series feels like one of our best.”

Hidden within each of the 10 new episodes are clues to a new game – The Secret Song. Adam will drop cryptic clues in amongst the regular questions and games, with bonus points on offer if Alan or Myf work it out. Guessing The Secret Song could mean the difference between winning and losing. And, as always, you can play along with all your old favourite games including Substitute, Know Your Product and Look What They’ve Done To My Song, Ma. Spicks and Specks, there is no substitute.

Sunday 7 August at 7.40pm on ABC.

  1. I tuned in but was a little let down. Same old segments, same songs but people who would be watching ( over 50) had never heard of. How about some songs from the 60’s 70’s and 80’s songs that we all know ?

        1. Fair comment David, what I’m really wanting to air in Australia is the revamped new season of Law and Order. Have you heard which network will have airing rights in Australia as the other franchises are split between nine and 10?

  2. Some of these eps were aired a few weeks ago in the early hours of the morning. I happened to come across them on ABC Me or ABC KTVP, I can’t remember which. They weren’t bad. I’m looking forward to it being back on screen.

      1. Yes I know they are. That’s why I thought they were repeats of the last season, but they weren’t. They were from this season with Montaigne (wearing that outfit) and Steph (in that top). They also featured the mystery song clues, with a special guest from Masterchef (I think it was) in the Montaigne ep, plus a magician with a bird in a cage in another ep, dropping in to give some of them. A question also referenced 2022 and they featured a tweet from Ukraine. I can’t remember if I saw two or three eps, they weren’t for about 40 mins each and yeah, I enjoyed them.

    1. I also saw an episode with the mystery song at 2-3am, though this one was with Alex Lee and Dave O’Neil.

I missed the start so was slightly confused when Adam asked about the mystery song at the end, then remembered it being mentioned in his interview with David a few weeks ago.

I just assumed that the new season had already started.

      1. I assumed the same thing, so went searching the TV guides and iView to see if they were repeats or something. Nope. I guess they must’ve been broadcast by mistake? Unless it was some kind of test?

  3. Personally I think it’s a tired concept

It was good back in the day but it’s the same people and mainly same guests

    Anyway that’s what I think
