Seven in legal battle with Gravity Media

Seven is seeking urgent access to broadcast software developed for Summer & Winter Olympics.

Seven has another legal battle underway after launching legal action against Gravity Media.

The Australian reports Seven is seeking an urgent Supreme Court order claiming intellectual property of Olympic broadcast software is owned by them.

Seven claims Gravity Media, previously known as Gearhouse Broadcast, was paid more than $14m to assist in the production of recent Olympics games. The dispute surrounds access to a newsroom computer system called Inception, designed by Canadian company RossVideo.

“(Seven is seeking Gravity Media) provide written consent to Ross Video Ltd and take all steps necessary to allow Ross Video Ltd to provide to (Seven) the information and documents (requested),” the summons reads.

A Commonwealth Games contract was awarded to competitor NEP, which produces AFL and cricket coverage.

Those games begin on July 29.
