The subject this week on Who Do You Think You Are? is 10’s Dr. Chris Brown.

“I think as you get older you start to wonder, why you are the way you are. But our family history is a bit of a mystery. On mum’s side, my grandmother Helen died when I was about seven. She had this warm, loving personality that I only got a very small taste of. I’m very keen to know more about where that came from,” he said.

“I’m very lucky with my family, they’re very beautiful people, very caring people. In our family, relationships are for life and I definitely do believe in love. I’d love to have kids and to be honest, am surprised I don’t already have them.

“It’s very easy to feel like a black sheep in the family until you find all the other black sheep. This journey has revealed a family history that I’m immensely proud of, on both sides.”

Popular vet and TV personality Dr Chris Brown solves a longstanding family mystery and, in the process, discovers a determined and gutsy character in the form of his maternal 3 x great grandmother, Dolean Gilmore. On the other side of his maternal family tree, Chris unearths his charismatic 3 x great grandfather, William Sedgley, whose life was a series of great highs and tremendous lows, culminating in an uplifting conclusion.
