rage remembers Judith Durham, Olivia Newton-John

On Friday night ABC pays tribute to two iconic Australian performers.

This Friday night rage will pay to tribute to two Australian icons who passed away this week, The Seekers’ Judith Durham and Dame Olivia Newton-John.

We’ll be playing a couple of performances from The Seekers from 1967 at Expo 67 in Montreal, an interview with Judith Durham on GTK in 1970, plus videos from the Vault including the legendary Aussie anthem ‘I Am Australian’ featuring Mandawuy Yunupingu and Russell Hitchcock.

Then, we’ll be playing performances from Olivia Newton-John on Countdown in 1980, an interview with Olivia from GTK in 1971, and all the hits from our vault and some deeper cuts as well, plus a Grease megamix, and her collaborations with John Travolta, Andy Gibb and David Foster.

  1. It seems like perhaps Rage should have waited a few weeks to air the tribute ep so they had time to put together something more comprehensive rather than a rushed job.

  2. Even the tribute to Livvy was disappointing. None of her hits from the early 70s. A bunch of songs from the 80s and 90s? that were mediocre at best. The only major hits they played were the Greece Mega Mix, Xanadu and Physical.

    1. I suspect there may not have been available video to be able to play those songs, unfortunately. Although perhaps more of an effort should have been made. I sometimes get a bit peeved myself at some of the tributes Rage does for recently deceased musicians…for me, Mark Hollis of Talk Talk was a huge loss (“Laughing Stock” is probably my fave album of all time) and Rage played something like a paltry three videos.
