What I’ve Been Watching: Guillaume Brahimi

The host of new SBS foodie series Guillaume’s Paris has also been watching The Bear.

Chef Guillaume Brahimi tonight debuts his new SBS food and lifestyle series Guillaume’s Paris, a 10 part showcase of food stories, special guests, and mouth-watering recipes from the City of Lights.

But when he’s not in the kitchen what does Chef Guillaume watch from the couch?

What shows are on your must-see TV list lately?
GB: I am very with busy all the footy finals at the moment (NRL and AFL), and I have also manage to squeeze in a little bit of The Bear.

How did lockdown affect your viewing?
GB: Okay, this was a great conversation starter with my friends chat group to ask for recommendations, and to see who could come up with the best. But being able to watch The Tour De France all day and guilt free.

Which guilty pleasure show are you reluctant to admit watching?
GB: I really got into Morning Wars and Yellowstone. I like how I can watch a couple of episodes here and there and go back to them. I also went crazy on all the French foreign language films on SBS, where it’s all about language and conversation rather than guns and violence.

When you settle down for a night on the couch what are your ‘must-haves?’
GB: hat depends on the night of the week…. I have to say, I usually have a craving for 80% dark chocolate with the fire on and it’s all cosy. It’s happy days! And maybe a cheeky glass of red.

What show you would secretly love to appear on?
GB: Ted Lasso all the way! I would love to be part of his team, it’s a real feel-good show.

What did you enjoy most about filming Guillaume’s Paris and what can viewers expect to see?
GB: Without a doubt meeting all the local food producers during the filming of the show that excel in their craft. Whoever that may be, the best coffee maker, the best cheese maker or best croissant maker. They do this day in day out because they’re passionate about their craft, not because they’re on TV. They all had real Parisian pride, as I do. We have a saying in French L’amour du travail bien fait “The Love of the work done well”.

Double episode 7:30pm Thursday September 22 on SBS.
