Clarion Awards 2022: winners

Four Corners team win top Queensland journalism awards, along with awards to SBS and Seven News.

The winners of the 2022 Queensland Clarion Awards were announced in Brisbane on Saturday.

The ABC Four Corners team of Anne Connolly, Ali Russell and Stephanie Zillman were jointly awarded the Journalist of the Year award for their report, ‘State Control’.

There were further wins for ABC, SBS and Seven.

Director of 7NEWS for Brisbane and the Gold Coast, Neil Warren said: “It’s a great honour for such a hard-working dedicated news team, filled with terrific people who always have each other’s backs. They’re mates, operating in an environment that feels like family and this makes a difference. They are a team dedicated to responsible, honest reporting and getting the facts right.

“Special mention to Pat Welsh who deserves every bit of this award. So much talent and such dedication over so many years. Pat is 7NEWS, a legend of TV sport, and we’ll miss him when he retires at the end of this year.”
