Renewed: East New York

More policing ahead for Amanda Warren, Jimmy Smits & co.

US police drama East New York was renewed last week for a second season.

The series stars Amanda Warren, Jimmy Smits, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Kevin Rankin, Richard Kind, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Olivia Luccardi, and Lavel Schley. It follows Regina Haywood (Warren), the newly promoted deputy inspector of East New York, a working-class neighborhood at the edge of Brooklyn.

It was renewed b CBS along with two other dramas.

“We thank the talented casts, executive producers and their incredible writing and production teams for bringing these shows to life,” said Kelly Kahl, president of CBS Entertainment. “Additional kudos to our CBS programming teams for shepherding these series to success. We are delighted to give them well deserved full season orders.”

In Live+7 data East New York is at 7.4 million US viewers per episode.

It screens in Australia on FOX One.

  1. My first impression of this show is that it is very CBS and likely to have a long run. When trying to figure out just how good these US studio efforts are likely to be you must first consider just how it will fit into an already successful production run such as the CSI franchise, with all its law enforcement spin-offs. With their East New York series the producers / showrunners could safely lobby for a multi-season budget with the studio executives.
