Renewed: Heartbreak High

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the reaction at home and around the world," say producers as Netflix greenlights a second season of hit drama.

No surprises here, Netflix’s hit reboot of Heartbreak High has been renewed for a second season.

A reboot of the classic 1990’s drama, Heartbreak High has not only remained in the Australian top 10 TV shows on Netflix for five weeks, but it spent three weeks in their global top 10 (hitting #6, #5, #8 and amassing over 42.6M hours viewed in the three weeks ). The show reached the top 10 TV shows in over 43 countries on Netflix including in US, Europe, Africa and Asia. On TikTok, #heartbreakhigh has amassed over 300m views.

The show has also been nominated for 4 AACTA Awards today.

Produced by Fremantle Australia and NewBe, Season 2 of Heartbreak High will see the talented cast and creators reassemble in Sydney (Gadigal, Dharug, Dharawal and Ku-ring-gai lands), Australia for pre-production and filming.

  1. I may not be the target audience, but I’m so excited for them. More of Ca$h and Darren’s relationship! Hopefully involve Ca$h exploring his asexuality.

  2. I remember Salvatore Coco from the original series was talking about wanting a remake on The Morning Show a few years ago. He said other cast from the original series were keen on the idea too. Now it has happened and it has been successful. They knew it was a good concept. They believed in it and it’s now a reality.
