Selling in the City launch

Designers Rosie Morley and Paddy Milne unveiled their new property show to media in Melbourne yesterday.

Designers Rosie Morley and Paddy Milne yesterday attended a launch of brand new property series Selling in the City at Society in Melbourne.

The first lifestyle commissioned by Binge, it is targeted at the platform’s younger demographic, as opposed to Selling Houses Australia on Foxtel.

The 8-part series sees the hosts increase market value of apartments and inner city pads with a makeover.

Featured in the first season are Fitzroy and South Melbourne in Melbourne, Newtown and Leichhardt in Sydney and Woolloongabba in Brisbane. The pandemic prevented other states from being included.

Morley said the pandemic also shifted the practical purpose of home spaces.

“They’ve had to be workplaces, places to socialise, but also give you a place for respite. So really, when you’re thinking about your own home, you have to be thinking about, ‘How does it perform across a 24 hour period now? And how does it serve all of these functions of my life?'” she said.

But she also rejected notions of design trends in property.

“You want to design something that will last forever, really. Throwaway culture is dumb. So I think that’s the challenge for us on this program: to create high-impact spaces, that won’t tire. So in that respect to your home, I would say ‘Put it out there. Love your home.'”

Selling in the City premieres 8:30pm Wednesday on LifeStyle, triple episode premiere on Binge.
