Cameron Williams facing assault charge

Former Nine sports presenter charged with common assault, will face court on Thursday.

Former Nine sports presenter Cameron Williams has been charged with common assault after an alleged domestic violence incident .

The Daily Telegraph reported NSW Police were called to a home in the Hunter Valley just before 1am on Sunday, where Williams was arrested and later charged with one count of common assault. Officers also took out an apprehended violence order (AVO) on behalf of wife Natasha Russo, before granting him conditional bail.

A NSW Police spokeswoman said in a statement, “Following inquiries, a 59-year-old man was arrested and taken to Cessnock Police Station and charged with common assault (DV).

“The Coogee man was granted conditional bail to appear at Singleton Local Court on Thursday 24 November 2022.”

Solicitor Paul McGirr told multiple media outlets, “At this stage there’s a lot more to the story, we’ll enter a plea of not guilty, obtain a brief of evidence and then go from there.”

Williams left Nine in March 2022 to focus on health after some 16 years at the network.
