US actor Ben Masters, best known for daytime soap Passions, has died aged 75.
He died on Wednesday of COVID-19 in California, after battling dementia for several years.
Passions was certainly a bold show when it screened from 1999 – 2008, infamously mingling paranormal activities with soapie storylines. Masters played Julian Crane, the womanising heir apparent to the show’s wealthy and powerful Crane family across its run.
From the 1970s to 1990s, Masters worked on several mini-series such as Noble House, Celebrity and featured in the short-lived 1976 series Muggsy, which dealt with issues like gangs and poverty in a realistic way. He also guest starred on Kojak, Barnaby Jones, Murder She Wrote, Petrocelli, Touched by an Angel, Sisters, Diagnosis Murder, Kolchak: The Night Stalker and Kung Fu: The Legend Continues.Â
In 1982 he had a short stint on Another World.
Film credits included All That Jazz, Key Exchange, Making Mr. Right, Mandingo and Dream Lover.

Sad to hear about Ben Masters. He played Julian Crane so well on Passions.
Passions was my guilty pleasure back in the day. A weird show, yet so fascinating.
Outing myself here, but I guess it’s OK cos I’m in like-minded company … wasn’t it Tabitha & Timmy?
Ben Masters played the role of Julian so well! Passions cracked me up with it’s crazy storylines. Channel 7 didn’t show the final episodes. I show it by YouTube.
Wow, this takes me back. I remember watching Passions every afternoon after school. A lot of students would talk about it the next day – and this was an all boys high school!
RIP
Lenox (Juliet Mills) and her doll-come-to life, Timmy (Josh Ryan Evans)!!
It was Sheridan Crane being best friends with Princess Diana for me.
Sorry Tabitha Lenox.
That show certainly had the wackiest storylines.
Unfortunate how Timmy died on screen on the same day as the actor passing in real life.
