  1. I’m going to go against the grain here but the show was hilarious and clever.

One issue the show had though was that it was released weekly, yet was written in a style to be binged. Where episodes weren’t at all self contained and flowed into each other. I was underwelmed at first watching weekly until I was far enough into the first season to really grasp the show. That airlock episode was amazing and airing early in the pandemic had amazing unintended parrells to what was going on in society.

For season 2, I waited until it was over, binged both seasons and it was great. How could people not find the inflatable ball hilarious?

It’s a real shame they aren’t doing a final season to cap this off. Trust me, this will be regarded an undiscovered gem in the future. I just don’t think it found it’s audience. A few years between seasons because of the pandemic and the weekly airing schedule seems to have doomed it.

  2. I loved Veep and the Thick of It and enjoyed the Death of Stalin, so I was disappointed that this was very underwhelming. It felt like an old spec script that had been sitting in a drawer gathering dust for many years and nobody thought to improve it before shooting.

    1. Due to the production times many networks, including HBO, commission two seasons of new shows. Even if it isn’t great they wear a loss on S2 and cancel it then because, rather than try to make replacements. Netflix on the other hand has always been streamer with no schedule and more shows on the go, has no problem cancelling a show during S1 and throwing away any work done on S2.
