Dr. Phil confirms final season

"This has been an incredible chapter of my life and career,' says TV psychologist.

Long running US talk show Dr. Phil will be ending its run in coming months, after 21 years on television.

“I have been blessed with over 25 wonderful years in daytime television,” McGraw, 72, said in a statement to Variety. “With this show, we have helped thousands of guests and millions of viewers through everything from addiction and marriage to mental wellness and raising children. This has been an incredible chapter of my life and career, but while I’m moving on from daytime, there is so much more I wish to do.”

“Phil is a valued partner and member of the CBS / King World family, and while his show may be ending after 21 years, I’m happy to say our relationship is not,” Steve LoCascio, president of CBS Media Ventures, said in a statement. “Phil changed the daytime landscape as the force behind one of the most popular talk shows ever on daytime TV. We plan to be in the Dr. Phil business with the library for years to come and welcome opportunities to work together in the future.”

Phil McGraw, who first appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, still fronts the highest-rated daytime talk show in the US behind Live With Kelly and Ryan and averages around 2 million viewers per episode.

In February 2022, several current and former Dr. Phil employees anonymously made claims of verbal abuse, fear and intimidation by their superiors amid a Buzzfeed news investigative report. But his lawyers dismissed the claims as clickbait press saying, “BuzzFeed was offered dozens of current and former staff to talk to but when the reporter started hearing the truth which ruined their salacious narrative they declined.”

McGraw himself was not accused of abusive behaviour.

Dr. Phil screens weekdays in Australia on 10.

  1. My friends and I would discuss that Dr. Phil would just explain things that were common sense. Though there has been a market for that. Where people didn’t have common sense.

Oprah has been a big fan and the show has been a staple on the Oprah Winfrey Network for many years in North America. It’s not a show I was a big fan of, but it’s still significant enough to acknowledge.

I’ll mostly remember the show for the , “Cash me ousside, how bout dah?” girl. Which became a massive meme and she has her own Wikipedia article because of it. I don’t think any other Dr. Phil guest has their own Wikipedia article because of their appearance, and there would hardly be any others if there are any other guests that had the same notoriety.
