Loreen returns as Eurovision favourite

Arresting 'Euphoria' singer wins Melodifestivalen and makes a return to the Eurovision stage.

Euphoria singer Loreen has shot to the top of the Eurovision odds with her 2023 song Tattoo, officially Sweden’s entry, after winning the grand final of Melodifestivalen.

28 songs were announced by Swedish broadcaster SVT at the end of last year, as competing in Melodifestivalen 2023 -including Perth born singer Kiana.

On Saturday 11 March, Tattoo become the overall winner, in both the international jury vote, plus the public vote. Loreen won by a comfortable margin, scoring 177 points to the runner-up’s 138 points, and will now fly the Swedish flag in Liverpool.

In 2012 Loreen competed with her very first Melodifestivalen winner, Euphoria. The song was a big winner on the night, and has gone on to become one of the most famous and commercially successful songs to have come from the Eurovision Song Contest.

Tattoo is currently number 1 on both the Swedish singles chart and the Swedish radio airplay chart.

  1. And a great job by Dale Roberts who presented the Aussie 8, 10 and 12 points!! Would be fab if SBS used him to present the Aussie votes during Eurovision!!
After all Eurovision is generally all bout presenting new talent to the world stage!! (Maybe not so much in Loreen!!)

  2. Euphoria is one of the best winning songs of all time. It was also around the time of ‘peak’ Eurovision parties before Australia entered the competition. I remember that year well. (2012)
