Dateline: May 30

This week Dateline explores what Australia can learn from Canada’s fentanyl overdose epidemic.

Canada is in the grip of an overdose epidemic which has seen around 35,000 deaths due to drug overdoses since 2016, at least 80% of which can be attributed to the powerful painkiller – fentanyl.

This week on Dateline presenter Evan Williams meet the doctors and dealers giving hard drugs to users to fix the fentanyl crisis and introduces audiences to the families that have been torn apart by fentanyl overdoses.

Viewers will also hear the heart-breaking story of British Colombian mum Pam who lost her healthy 16 year old son Ronan to an overdose after he consumed a Xanax which turned out to be tainted with a deadly granule of fentanyl.

Tuesday, May 30 at 9.30pm on SBS.
