Four Corners: May 8

Grace Tobin investigates the misuse and abuse of generative AI and what it means for humanity.

Monday’s Four Corners story is ‘AI Rising’ reported by Grace Tobin.

As tech companies race to dominate the artificial intelligence market, trying to one-up each other in the pursuit of profit, many experts are warning that we’re not prepared for what happens next.

This week on Four Corners, reporter Grace Tobin investigates the misuse and abuse of generative artificial intelligence and what it means for humanity.

Tobin meets a man who has fallen in love with his chatbot, Mimi.

She investigates the proliferation of deepfake pornography now targeting Australian women, including public figures, and interrogates a perpetrator.

The ultimate question being: how do we regulate the AI revolution?

    1. When you get one of the three “godfathers of AI” like Geoffrey Hinton who quit his job and warns people of the dangers it is probably something we need to think about and take seriously.

  1. This is disturbing. I watched Richard Branson talking about his dyslexia having superpowers and his superpowers have made him the person he is. This is so misleading to young children who suffer the condition because no human has superpowers. He is encouraging people to use AI with the condition which is what dyslexia is and nothing to be ashamed of. Any kind of help is better than none but alluding to the fact it gives you superpowers is wrong and it has not been study more fully, even Elon Musk believes holding off in an open letter he wrote using it until over 1000 people have had time to study the implications. It has been suggested dyslexia be called dyslexiAI and Branson suggests he can be called AI Captain because he sees himself as a co pilot of the dyslexia cause.
