Billions confirms final season
Big money series is going bust after seven seasons.

US drama Billions has confirmed its upcoming 7th season will be the last.
The show set in the world of high finance and politics, originally debuted in 2016 with Damian Lewis and Paul Giamatti, but Lewis departed after 5 seasons (he will appear in half of S7).
Season 7 will consist of 12 episodes and is expected to screen in August.
“Billions has deftly explored power, money and greed in a way that not only made it a massive hit, but also defined its own genre thanks to the creative brain trust of Brian and David,” said Chris McCarthy, President & CEO of Showtime, MTV Entertainment Studios, and Paramount Media Networks. “This final season is packed full of the incredible, complex dialogue and character dynamics fans have come to love, and we are thrilled to partner with them on turning this hit series into a global franchise.”
The cast also includes Paul Corey Stoll, Asia Kate Dillon, Maggie Siff, David Costabile, Condola Rashad, Kelly AuCoin, and Jeffrey DeMunn.
It screens in Australia on Stan.

Love this show, glad to see Damien Lewis is coming back for the final season. The battles between Axelrod and Rhodes were epic. The show wasn’t quite as good when Axelrod left.
The early seasons of Billions made during the ‘greed is good’ investment banking boon found an obvious vicarious appeal for audiences, and various series in the ‘Billions’ mould were also made in Europe and elsewhere, but now with the sociopolitical consequences of having these American multi-national investment companies, Billions is looking a bit tame in comparison. It’s interesting that Damian Lewis is making a cameo comeback in SE07, this suggests that some last-ditch move was in play to revive this show after Damian’s Bobby Axlerod character left.
In my opinion 7 seasons is more than enough for any show, even a quality one.
Billions has always been an underrated show in Australia. Its production values and scripted dialogue are in Succession territory in my opinion. Am looking forward to this final series.
