Airdate: My Brilliant Friend

Critically-acclaimed period drama My Brilliant Friend will have a Free to Air screening on SBS from next week.

Adapted from the first book in Elena Ferrante’s Neapolitan Novels, the 2018 series has 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The 8 part series follows Elena Greco, a now-elderly woman who discovers the most important friend in her life, Raffaella “Lila” Cerullo, has disappeared. An author immersed in a house full of books, Elena starts writing the story of her and Lila’s tempestuous friendship.

Episode One: The Dolls
The disappearance of her old friend Lila causes author Elena to look back on the early days of their friendship during the 1950s in Naples, when they were two drastically different girls at the top of their class.
