“Greatest reboot of all time?” Rave reviews for Thank God You’re Here

On social media last night, viewers were united in their love for 10's comedy reboot.

How good was it to have Thank God You’re Here back on screens last night?

Too damned funny.

The revival after 14 years, first revealed by TV Tonight, was trending in all sorts of ways on social media last night, especially for the work of comedian Aaron Chen.

Viewers were raving about how elated they were to see the shw back on screens, and already naming their favourite comedians they would like to see return.

Hands down, an inspired programming reboot from 10 and the genius team of Working Dog.

  1. I never watched the original but checked this out last night out of curiosity and I’m hooked. Brilliantly done, loads of genuinely ROFL moments and further validation of Julia Zamero being one of my all time favourite Aussie talents. Her reaction to the snake was worth the admission fee alone!

  2. Brilliant show! Celia Paquola did a great job in her hosting role and settled in really quickly. Aaron Chen was hilarious in the first act but Julia Zemiro stole the show again and again. It was excruciating to watch the poor fellow from Aunty Donna- he was so nervous I thought he was going to hyperventilate. And Urzula Carlson cracked me up with her “sister” jokes. I also recognised a few faces from the original ensemble which was nice. Looking forward to watching again next week.

  3. In Urzila’s scene, what was up with that the guy that was looking at her very flirtatiously? There was even a whole close up of him but nothing ever came of it

  4. Fairly positive comments on other television forums too, which is great to see. Doesn’t happen often for shows that have been off air for so long.

    I enjoyed the show overall.

  5. Loved the reboot, I thought Aaron and Julia were the best. I couldn’t stop laughing through the whole show, had tears I was laughing that much. I actually get to see the show in person in a few weeks time, can’t wait.

  6. Not many shows get me to watch FTA live… and this one had me beside myself with anticipation tuning in eating wrapped in a blanket and inhaling some Twix Pods with a large glass of Pepsi Max.
As I mentioned in the lounge though… I thought it was a little rough overall. Still funny which is what counts in the end. There’s two particular ensemble dudes (Urzila’s husband to be and the admirer in that one scene) who were distractingly a bit over the top with their acting and reactions… but it was great to see Nicola and Heidi back in the cast! I’m very excited for next week’s guests. And Celia confirmed what I’d hoped on radio yesterday that Marty Sheargold will be walking through the door at some point this season!
I read somewhere that it’s only 6 episodes too… is this correct David?

    1. IMBD credits Celia with 7 episodes as host so … idk, maybe it’s a “test the water” situation. I hardly watch Ch. 10 anymore, but if that portion of my tv diet is TGYH, HYBPA? TM and Gogglebox, I think I can live with that. I watched the first half last night (I was going out) and really liked what I saw. Not uproariously funny, but my laughter was definitely more than polite. Very glad a lot of the old ensemble cast returned. Wednesday night is my night out, but I’m definitely keen for more.
