  1. The FIFA Women’s World Cup is a massive upgrade in status and a promotion of women’s soccer/football. The stage is there, though the sporting experts and professionals will be looking at the gameplay and strategies. It’s unfortunate how the broadcasting has been handled. I think it would’ve been nice if SBS had the rights to all games. When you think of soccer, you think SBS. Yes Optus is vaguely linked, though it’s not the mainstream source. SBS are seemingly only able to cover the bus and plane arrivals.

    1. Only a little bit, when you think of soccer you really think Optus and also Ten. When you think recent World Cups maybe SBS. It’s a massive joke Ten didn’t get the Women’s World Cup because they have supported Soccer way more than Channel 7… that cared little for it and have put little investment into it.

  2. Wow, that has to be right up there with Ash Barty’s Aussie Open final of last year (a Daily Telegraph article today mentioned that but implied its still to reach that – noting it’s already topped NRL GFs, Origins and 5 of 7 AFL GFs of recent years or something. I think very close to the Tokyo Olympics Opening Ceremony now too. I recall Barty’s broadcast did much higher, but Matildas BVOD far higher (where BVOD has sky-rocketed the past 18 months especially in 2023). Barty’s Presentations (which went over half an hour) will take quite something, that did north of 4 million – this Saturday but definitely the Semi and/or Final if they make it. How good for TV though 🙂

  3. Great result and a question, does that include Optus Sports as well in BVOD as on the VOZ site it says:

“VOZ captures ‘Total TV’, that is: viewing of Metropolitan, Regional and Subscription TV broadcasters’ (linear) TV content (whether viewed live or played back through the TV set up to 28 days of original broadcast) and also internet-delivered BVOD services. Participating BVOD broadcasters: ABC, Seven Network, Nine Network, Network 10, SBS and Foxtel.”

So appears to me Optus Sports aren’t a participant.

    1. I actually think Saturdays number will be lower. People are much more likely to be out on Saturday night. If you’re at a pub or a mates place, you won’t be counted.
