ABC documentary The Platypus Guardian will screen in the USA on public broadcaster PBS.
The special by WildBear Entertainment and Tasmania’s Tetrapod Films saw obsessive guide Peter Walsh reveal the secretive life of a female platypus and the threats she faces trying to survive in the increasingly depleted habitat of Hobart’s waterways.
With the help of experts, he explored the platypus population, revealing intimate details about their lives.
It screened on ABC in June.
The doco will screen on October 18, with PBS International handling global distribution.
Director/Producer Nick Hayward will next turn his attention to a natural history series on Tasmania’s lyrebirds.

This was such a moving documentary. I hope it does really well in its US debut.
