A drama biography about disgraced wellness ‘expert’ Belle Gibson is in the pipeline according to the Herald Sun.
Rumours of a Netflix drama project were the topic of discussion amongst industry figures at the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
The production is tipped to film in Melbourne from November to February, although it is unclear if the story will be told as a film or miniseries.
Belle Gibson, who admitted to having made up the cancer claims purported in her wellness app, has also been the subject of several documentaries including the BBC’s Bad Influencer in 2021 and The Search for Instagram’s Worst Con Artist, which aired on ITV in the UK in November.
In 2017 the Federal Court of Australia ordered her to pay $410,000 following a Consumer Affairs Victoria investigation.
A publicity representative for Netflix said “We have nothing to confirm at the moment.”

Belle Gibson who was found guilty of misleading and deceptive conduct in 2017 and fined $410,000 after falsely claiming she was suffering from brain cancer among many other ailments. As of May 2021 Gibson was yet to pay the fine, her home home raided by authorities seeking restitution.
