ABC is investigating an employee following a complaint about their behaviour.
The Sunday Telegraph reported female staff at an ABC newsroom complained after a senior journalist / producer with the public broadcaster allegedly sexually harassed female colleagues at a staff Christmas party last week.
The article alleged a man had been drinking at an ABC newsroom Christmas party at the Little Big House in South Bank, Brisbane, on November 24.
“ABC management removed an employee from the workplace following a complaint from a colleague about their behaviour,” ABC said in a statement.
“The ABC moved quickly in response to the complaint and the matter is under investigation. The employee will remain absent, pending the outcome of that investigation.
“Any allegations of this kind are always thoroughly investigated and alleged victims are always offered counselling and support.”
ABC’s chief people officer Dharma Chandran also reportedly followed up with an email to staff reminding them of the company’s expectations during end-of-year celebrations.
