Airdate: The Wallabies: Inside Rugby World Cup 2023

Rugby Union doco co-created by Karl Stefanovic looks inside the Wallabies inner sanctum.

Upcoming sport documentary The Wallabies: Inside Rugby World Cup 2023 will be released in February on Stan.

The three-part series is the inside story of one of the biggest gambles in Australian sporting history, and chronicles the pride, passion and pain of the Wallabies under prodigal coach Eddie Jones, as they attempt the ultimate ‘smash and grab’ at Rugby World Cup 2023 in France.

Created by award-winning production company CJZ in conjunction with Karlinberg Entertainment (Karl Stefanovic and Richard Weinberg), this extraordinary look inside the Wallabies inner sanctum will offer exclusive access to Eddie Jones as he takes over the team just nine months out from the tournament, and with the hope of transforming the Wallabies into world champions.

This is the first time Rugby Australia has given anyone an all-access pass to the Wallabies in over 30 years, giving audiences an unfettered look at the side as they attempt to claim glory, despite the chaos of controversial selections, injury and scandalous headlines all around them.

With the weight of the world on their shoulders, cameras follow the Wallabies through team camps, training sessions, dressing rooms, and on the field as they take part in The Rugby Championship, Bledisloe Cup and Rugby World Cup 2023. Rugby and documentary fans alike will get an insider peek behind the scenes of every devastating loss, every agonising injury, and every candid moment of the players as they crash out of the most controversial Rugby World Cup campaign in Wallabies history.

In addition to gaining a rare look inside the mind of coach Eddie Jones, Wallabies superstars featured in the series include controversially dropped captain Michael Hooper (Rugby 7s), veteran James Slipper (ACT Brumbies), enforcer and fan-favourite Taniela Tupou (Melbourne Rebels), wily scrum-half Nic White (Western Force), towering lock Nick Frost (ACT Brumbies), dynamic prop Allan Alaalatoa (ACT Brumbies), and young rookie fly-half, Carter Gordon (Melbourne Rebels).

The series was Executive Produced by Andrew Farrell, supported by Supervising Producers Mark Barlin, Rob Gunn, Tim Vincent, Matt Bath, Katie Cattell and Anthony Griffis.

All three episodes premiere February 22 on Stan.
