Veteran broadcaster Philip Brady is recovering in hospital following surgery for a broken hip.
The Herald Sun reports Brady, 84, was walking his dog in the early hours of Friday morning when it caused him to fall on concrete.
It is the second time he has broken his hip following a 2013 fall in Hong Kong.
His 3AW co-presenter Simon Owens posted hopeful news earlier this week.
Greetings from Philip Brady from his hospital bed. At 6pm last night he went in to surgery to replace his broken hip. Here he is, post-op, “still with two legs and sucking on a coke”. pic.twitter.com/BCanTo4ijw

Brady has been employed in the media most of his adult life, celebrating 60 years in the industry in 2018.
He joined Channel Nine in 1958 firstly as a booth announcer, at the age of 18, where he remained until 1971, predominantly as part of In Melbourne Tonight. He hosted shows including Concentration, Everybody’s Talking, Moneymakers, Junior Moneymakers, Casino Ten, Get the Message and Password for the 0–10 Network.
He has also made numerous guest appearances on Good Morning Australia, Tonight Live with Steve Vizard and ABC’s The Late Show.
Brady has been part of 3AW since 1990, notably with Bruce Mansfield for Remember When plus Nightline, and with Simon Owens.
In 2018 he received an OAM for services to the broadcast media industry.
He’s also a reader of TV Tonight should you care to leave a message.
