Lord of the Flies shoot in Australia now uncertain

BBC series originally due to film in Australia in April is considering its filming options.

Question marks hang over local production of BBC miniseries Lord of the Flies, originally due to film in Australia.

The classic tale based on William Golding’s novel, was announced by the BBC as filming in Australia from April.

TV Tonight understands key crew have been released, to secure alternative work.

A spokesperson for UK producers Eleven (Ten Pound Poms) said neither an April start or an Australian shoot were now a certainty.

“We’re still in the development phase of the project so don’t have concrete plans on shooting yet,” they said.

“It has been our intention to look at Australia to film and we’ve said that publicly but we haven’t moved into pre-production yet… so we have to consider all options.”

Written by Jack Thorne (National Treasure, Help, Best Interests), the series is a 4 x 60’ drama that tells the story of a group of young boys who find themselves stranded on a tropical island.

An Australian broadcaster is yet to be announced.
