SBS to announce Eurovision entry on March 6

A date is leaked to sponsors about announcing who is off to Malmö, Sweden.

SBS will announce Australia’s entry to the Eurovision Song Contest on Wednesday March 6th.

The date was revealed in an email to sponsors:

“In 2024 SBS is proud to broadcast the event which this year is taking place in Malmö, Sweden. We also celebrate 50 years since ABBA took to the Eurovision Stage with “Waterloo”, taking home the win for Sweden.

“Australia has once again been invited to send a representative to compete in the contest. Stay tuned to hear who will be representing us on Wednesday 6th March.”

Just who is on the short-list is unclear but Dannii Minogue, who excited fans with a December tweet ‘The stage is set…and the countdown has begun!’ has since clarified via Kyle & Jackie O, “I don’t know that I would have the strength to get through it. I saw Dami do it, Kate did it bending around on this pole. Like guys, I am 52, I am not a J-Lo at the Superbowl. It’s not there for me in my future.”

The Eurovision fanbase still remembers Electric Fields’ incredible 2000 and Whatever which fell short at Eurovision Decides 2019. There are no upcoming tour dates on their official site.

Dami Im also said in 2020 she was keen to return, and has no touring dates confirmed beyond March 17 in South Korea.

But Blink TV may have other ideas up their sleeve. Blink TV picked up an AACTA Award for their 2023 broadcast last Saturday.

  1. I feel that Tones & I might have some involvement this year, whether it be as a performer or a co-writer, or possibly involved in the musical production in some way.
