Reese Witherspoon picks up format rights to Country House Hunters

Property format created by Australia's Abode Entertainment is headed to the A+E Network, produced by Reese Witherspoon's company.

Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine production company has picked up Australian format Country House Hunters for a local version on A+E Networks.

The series, developed by Melbourne based Abode Entertainment, will follow couples on their quest to find the ideal country home.

Three seasons have screened in Australia on Nine, presented by Catriona Rowntree. It is also in its third season in New Zealand and a second season in Canada.

A+E have ordered the entire back catalogue to run alongside the new commissioned USA version of 20×30 min, on their Home.Made.Nation programming block.

Teri Kennedy, Head of Lifestyle and Daytime Originals at A+E Networks, said, “As we grow and expand the Home.Made.Nation content library, A+E Networks aims to work with the top content producers and suppliers in the market. We have found the perfect partner with Hello Sunshine and their team of female content creators who have a proven track record of producing thoughtful and engaging multi-platform content that appeals to viewers globally. We are excited to jump in with Country House Hunters and look forward to working with the Hello Sunshine team to develop new talent and new lifestyle programs for our expanding portfolio.”

“We are absolutely delighted with our new partnership with Hello Sunshine and A+E Networks. It’s incredible to see how our little Australian show has now made its way to audiences in New Zealand, Canada, and now the USA,” said Gary Takle, Executive Producer at Abode Entertainment.

“This collaboration marks a significant milestone for us at Abode Entertainment, and we are thrilled at the opportunity to bring our unique storytelling to a global platform. The journey of Country House Hunters from a local favourite to an international hit is a dream come true, and we’re eager to see where this partnership will take us next.”

Parade Media Group’s Matthew Ashcroft, who brokered the deal, added, “We are thrilled to be working with A+E. We know audiences everywhere are going to love what Abode Entertainment and Hello Sunshine has in store to make Country House Hunters a returning hit franchise.”

Reese Witherspoon, Sara Rea, and Sue Kinkead will serve as Executive Producers for Hello Sunshine, with Gary Takle taking the helm for Abode Entertainment. Teri Kennedy and Jordan Harman are Executive Producers for Home.Made.Nation.
